Class Calendar      Register for Classes

All classes are available at almost any time except for the out of town teachers and very special workshops. Therefore, have your calendar open, figure out when would be a good time for you or your group to take the class or classes that you are interested in give us a call. 810-844-0066.  We are very happy to work with you. If you do not see a class that you want listed, please give us a call and we will build a class just for you!  Classes are built at a rate of $12.50 per hour, per person.  I know that this seams very low.  That is why we have a minimum 3 person per class goal.

Fused Glass Mirror   $75 includes materials, maximum size is 12" x 12"  Create a glass overlay in class.  A week later, when you come to finish and pick up your project you'll cut the mirror to fit and glue in place.   This is a one session class, 1 1/2 hour - 3 hour class depending on your personal design time.  Children can complete this project.  Children under 7 need to bring an adult assistant.   All ages are welcome in this class.  Advanced Registration is required.  Call 810-844-0066

Groutless Mosaic Project Class  This is a 2 hour class for  $60.00. You will learn how to use the glass tools to cut and break glass.  A wide assortment of colored glass is used to carry out your design.  After your design is completed you will use a thick sheet glue to affix the pieces to the wood frame with the heat of a heat gun.     

 

The classes listed below are 3 classes (2 hours each class, total of 6 hours of instruction ALL 3 classes for $68 must be of the same title. )  $68 Choices are marked with an *:  Classes marked with a ***** are available in a whole day format.

* Basic Beading:   $68 for 3 classes (2 hours each class, total of 6 hours of instruction. Choose 3 out of classes #1 -#4 listed below)

Class #1  Basics to the  Crystal WOW level (2 hours, materials are not included: range from $5 to $60)

Class #2  Earring, earrings and more earrings (2 hours materials are not included: approximately $5 to $20 )

Class #3  Working with Chain (2 hours, materials are not included: approximately $10 to 20)

Class #4 Crystal Flower Bracelet (2 hours, materials not included)

             

*   *****Spooning with Nancy (jewelry out of silver plated or sterling flatware materials not included: approximately $6 to 12 each class)

*   *****Simple Soldering (with a butane torch  The cost varies depending on the metal used, copper would be approximately $5, sterling or Argentium would be more, silver prices keep going up. )

*   *****Metal Clay (Silver clay is approximately $35 per class session, base metal clay $30 per container: copper, bronze or steel)

*   *****Wire Wrapping (approximate materials cost would be $10 for base metal ??? for sterling or gold filled)

* Glass Fusing (depending on the project, materials can vary from $10 to $70 also depending whether dichroic glass is chosen) 

*   *****Enameling  (materials extra $8 and up per class)

* Chain Maille (Columbus Chain, Unforgettable chain,  Full Persian) (materials are extra)

*   *****Twisting Wire  (materials are extra) Friday 6-8

   

*    *****Pewter Sampler (materials are extra)

Leather and Beads:  New Class to design and use leather and beads. 2 hours

Kumihimo: Ancient Braiding Technique with a few Americanized Changes  "On the Go" lightweight, portable and compact. $35 plus kit

Earrings Explored:  Learn to create a variety of different looks for your earrings.  2 hours

 

Needle and Thread AKA Off Loom Bead Weaving /Seed Beads and Crystals (Peyote, Netting, Brick stitch, Puffy Heart, St Petersburg Stitch, Snow Flake, Herringbone, etc) 3 hour classes offered generally on Saturday or Sunday (materials are extra)

  There is so much to know...peyote, brick, herringbone, lace etc. Not to mention "the puffy heart" and those cute Christmas earrings.
   

Off loom weaving:  needle and thread and fabulous beads.  There are many techniques: peyote, herringbone, brick stitch, Russian chain, netting etc Then there are variations and adaptations. 

Puffy Heart: 3 hours: Learn to assemble crystals into 3 dimensional shapes. One project per class.

 

Pearl Knotting: Learn to knot between pearls and other stones or beads.          3 hours

 

Metal Clay 3 classes $68 10 classes $200 materials extra

Get ready for excitement. You will work with a soft clay like material that is actually fine silver, copper, or bronze. Bring your stamps, textured buttons, small cookie cutters. Let Nancy open the door to this exciting media. Nancy will kiln fire your pieces between your first and second class.  After learning and applying finishing techniques you will be able to take home your pieces. 

Classes are available for working with fine silver, bronze, and copper. This class is offered twice a week.

* Wire Working

There are several wire wrapping classes that we offer.
  • Traditional Wire Wrapping                                                              Learn to handle and work with square and half round wire to incorporate cabochons and stones with NO holes.  Each session a different technique will be worked with to make pendants, bracelets and rings.
  • * Working With Wire    Twisting, wrapping and manipulating wire to create elegant bracelets, pendants.

  • * Chain Maille                                                                                    Each week learn to assemble jump rings into attractive and fashionable designs such as Columbus Chain, Japanese 4 in one and Byzantine.

* Simple Soldering

Learn to make soldered chains, findings, rings, and much more. Learn the difference between fine silver, sterling silver and argentium silver.  You can learn to add preformed bezels, snap tight settings for czs and soldering on earring posts. Each class meeting you will learn additional techniques by tackling a new project that will grow your abilities. Sign up now and begin (supply list is available).  $68 for 3 week series, materials not included.  Plan on each meeting lasting about 3 hours.

* Advanced Simple Soldering continue to grow your abilities.  Each session will cover additional tools and techniques.   $68 for 3 week series

* Fusing with Argentium Each session will cover additional tools and techniques.   $68 for 3 week series

* Pewter: The Other White Metal   Learn the differences  involved in working with this white metal.  Add color by adding copper and brass.  Try your hand at casting, forging and combining segments of pewter together.  $68 for 3 week series

* Glass Fusing

Fused Glass Working Small- Glass had emerged over the last few years as one of the hottest new art forms. Learn the methods of fusing glass. Instructor will cover safety and how to design sheets of glass into smooth jewels with a 3-D effect.  Pieces are ideal for rings, pendants, bracelets buttons and drawer pulls. Friday evenings 6-8pm

Lampwork

Interested in learning to make glass beads with a torch? The beads below were made by 3 students in the beginning lampwork class who never made a bead before. Sign up for a lampwork class. The beginning class is $150.00 for an all day class with all supplies included. After you have completed this intensive class you can use the workshop with instructors ok when available for up to 3 hours for $15.00 No instruction or glass supplies are included but you can use the tools, didymium glasses and kiln. This gives you cheap torch time to improve your skills. We want you to be successful and enjoy lampworking but it takes practice. Other more advanced classes can follow at a reduced rate as you progress. Call 810-844-0066 to set up a class.

Kumihimo Classes

 

Learn to make a kumihimo necklace or bracelet . It can be made with or with out beads, crystal or pearls. Its great fun and not very hard to do. Call 810-844-0066 to register . You can purchase a kit which has pictured instructions.

Viking Knit classes

 

Viking knit can be made with silver wire, brass, artistic wire and more.

We teach single and double weave as well as graduated viking knit with or without beads. Once you have created your pattern it can be cut into segments and with other beads in between. If you choose you can purchase a viking knit kit with instructions and pictures.

This is a series of 3 classes or a series. These are scheduled on successive weeks or by arrangement. An all day class can also be arranged which includes all 3 classes in one day. Learn to create great bracelets, rings , watch bands and more with silverware. If you do not have any spare silverware we have many different types to sell you. This class is usually taught on a Sat. but can be held in the evening, day during the week. Check our calendar or call the store for current class times or to request a time.
